A Brief History

Pilates was formed by the part Greek, part German Joseph Pilates during the First World War with the proposal to improve the rehabilitation program for the many returning veterans. Joseph Pilates believed mental and physical health are essential to one another. He recommended a few, precise movements emphasizing control and form to aid injured soldiers in regaining their health by strengthening, stretching, and stabilizing key muscles. Pilates created "The Pilates Principles" to condition the entire body: proper alignment, centering, concentration, control, precision, breathing, and flowing movement.

Our Pilates program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep your body balanced and are essential in providing support for your spine.

The Mat Workout

Our pilates Mat Workouts can be undertaken either individually or as a group and are guaranteed to develop both beginner and advanced pilates skills alike. We tailor our programs to fit with your individual needs, providing you with an innovative, intense and highly effective full-body workout as well as strengthening and engaging your core waist and lower back muscles to help improve your posture and prevent injury.

The Reformer Workout

The Reformer

The Reformer truly reforms the way you move your body.

You obtain the greatest benefits from the private sessions, where the trainer focuses on you exclusively and individually tailors each workout to your particular goals and ability levels.

The Pilates Reformer machine takes your pilates routine to the next level by providing additional resistance to your workout. It will also help to ensure that you are correctly positioned while going through various exercises. Pilates will help improve your posture, strength and flexibility as well as reduce back pain when practiced on a regular basis.

You will begin to feel the difference within the first couple of sessions of doing pilates. Results will be visible in the first month; you will notice leaner legs, stronger abs and a more toned butt and thighs.

Most of us know good posture when we see it, and we are inspired by how free and strong it makes a person look, but there are so many reasons to attend to ones posture I think it is worthwhile to take a moment to get really motivated.

Benefits of Good Posture:

  • pain relief throughout the body, including back and neck pain, hip pain, leg and foot pain.
  • allows us to move efficiently
  • improves muscle function
  • increases range of motion
  • takes pressure off of compressed organs
  • improves circulation
  • creates a trimmer appearance
  • radiates an attitude of confidence

Although you should always consult your doctor before starting any fitness routine, a Pilates workout is gentle and controlled with no sudden jarring actions. It is therefore more important that you work with a qualified instructor to ensure that you are doing the movements correctly. An experienced instructor will be able to modify the exercises to accommodate your limitations, continually challenging you within your range and monitor your improvements.

I’m a Pilates person. It’s great. I had a hip problem. I had a chronic back, a pinched nerve and a hip problem and it’s completely solved all of it. I love it. It makes me feel like I’m taller.
