What are the Tests?

Cardiovascular profile

The Cardiovascular Profile analyzes risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD), including such parameters as cholesterol, lipoproteins, triglycerides, fibrinogen, C-reactive protein, homocysteine, lipid peroxides, vitamin E, magnesium, coenzyme Q10, insulin, total testosterone, free androgen index, sex hormone binding globulin, and ferritin. Abnormal levels of these analyzes often can be corrected with nutritional intervention.

Hormonal profile

Male Test

The Male Hormone Profile is an accurate, convenient, non-invasive saliva assay that evaluates testosterone activity in men. This profile can uncover disrupted testosterone secretion rhythms caused by aging, chronic illness, infection, toxic exposure, smoking, trauma, and many other factors. The test is indicated for sex related dysfunctions such as low libido, impotence and hypogonadism, and for use in anti-aging treatment programs that address possible hormonal imbalances behind increasing fatigue, depression, and weight gain in middle-aged and elderly men.

The comprehensive version of this profile includes measures of cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin, to get a more complete picture of how adrenal hormones and melatonin may also be playing a role in producing symptoms and/or imbalances.

Female Test

As women become increasingly aware of the role that hormones play in their health throughout their entire lives, they are realizing the urgent need for reliable, clinically relevant assessment of hormone activity. The Female Hormone Profile is a safe, non-invasive saliva assay that analyzes levels of progesterone, testosterone and estradiol over 28 days. Because these hormones shape the course of a woman's menstruation cycle, imbalances can produce disruptions in mood, sleep patterns, appetite, sexual drive and PMS symptoms.

The Female Hormone Profile provides clinical direction for successful treatment of women with menstrual irregularities, difficulties with ovulation, functional infertility, pre-menstrual syndrome, menopause, osteoporosis, and other hormone related disorders. Once abnormal patterns are accurately detected, an effective, customized treatment plan can be developed to restore a patient's natural hormonal rhythms.

The comprehensive version of this profile includes measures of cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin, to get a more complete picture of how adrenal hormones and melatonin may also be playing a role in producing symptoms and/or imbalances.

Acid/Alkaline balance

Over acidity, which can become a dangerous condition that weakens all body systems, is very common today. It gives rise to an internal environment conducive to disease, as opposed to a pH-balanced environment which allows normal body function necessary for the body to resist disease.

A healthy body maintains adequate alkaline reserves to meet emergency demands. When excess acids must be neutralized, our alkaline reserves are depleted leaving the body in a weakened condition.

Insulin Chemistry

The blood glucose test is required to measure the amount of glucose in the blood right at the time of sample collection. It is used to detect both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia and to help diagnose diabetes.

Blood glucose may be measured on a fasting basis (collected after an 8 to 10 hour fast), randomly (anytime), post prandial (after a meal), and/or as part of an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT / GTT).

An OGTT is a series of blood glucose tests. A fasting glucose is collected; then the patient drinks a standard amount of a glucose solution to "challenge" their system. This is followed by one or more additional glucose tests performed at specific intervals to track glucose levels over time.

The OGTT may be required to help diagnose diabetes and as a follow-up test to an elevated blood glucose.
